Bashir El-Rufai, son of the former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has launched a scathing attack on Governor Uba Sani, Governor of Kaduna State accusing him of incompetence and poor performance.
This comes in response to Governor Sani’s comments regarding the previous administration’s governance.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in Kaduna on Saturday, Governor Sani disclosed that he inherited a substantial debt burden from the El-Rufai administration, amounting to $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities.
He expressed concern that this debt was significantly impacting the state’s federal allocation, with N7 billion being deducted from the March allocation alone to service the debt.
Moreover, Governor Sani lamented that the remaining N3 billion was inadequate to cover the state’s monthly salary bill of N5.2 billion, highlighting the financial challenges his administration faced.
However, in a series of posts on social media platform X, Bashir El-Rufai criticised Governor Sani, accusing him of surrounding himself with incompetent aides appointed for political reasons.
He questioned the wisdom of spending N7 billion on a banquet hall while bemoaning the debt inherited from the previous administration.
Bashir’s tweets have sparked mixed reactions, with supporters of Governor Sani defending him while El-Rufai’s supporters have launched a counterattack on the governor. The exchange underscores the ongoing tensions and political maneuvering within Kaduna State’s leadership.
