Super Eagles forward player, Ademola Lookman wrote his name into the history books of Atalanta by helping the Serie A club win their first Europa League trophy.

The Nigerian engraved his name into the history book of Atalanta by scoring a hat-trick in the final game against high-flying, Bayer Leverkusen. The praises of Ademola Lookman will be sung by both the young and old whenever they remember the night in Dublin.

Here are the records Ademola Lookman set in the Europa League final

(1) He is the sixth hat-trick to be scored in the final of a major UEFA competition, and the first since Jupp Heynckes for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the 1975 UEFA Cup.

(2) He is the only the second player to score a hat-trick in the final of a major European competition for an Italian side, after Pierino Prati in Milan against Ajax in the 1969 European Cup.

(3) Lookman is the third Nigerian player to score in the final of a major UEFA competition, after Alex Iwobi (2019 Europa League) and Joe Aribo (2022 Europa League).

(4) He is the first African player to score a hat-trick in the final of a major UEFA competition.

(5) The goals from Ademola Lookman ensured Atalanta won their first major European trophy and the club’s first trophy in 1963, becoming the first Italian team to win the UEFA Cup/Europa League since Parma in 1999.
