Antonio Conte has reportedly reached an agreement on a three-year contract to assume the helm of Napoli, the current holders of the Serie A title, more than 14 months subsequent to his departure from Tottenham.
Since departing from his position at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Italian has been without employment and disclosed that he declined propositions from the Saudi Pro League.
Speculation had connected him to the Chelsea managerial position, as per reports from Italy suggesting that the Blues had engaged in discussions with their former coach prior to Mauricio Pochettino’s exit.
Nonetheless, Fabrizio Romano presently asserts that Antonio Conte has finalized personal conditions to assume control at Napoli, a team that has encountered significant challenges in their Serie A title defense.
Their dominance in Serie A is on the verge of conclusion, as Inter Milan clinched the Scudetto this season with a remarkable 19-point lead over AC Milan.
The renowned Italian team has undergone changes in leadership with three permanent coaches en route to a 10th place finish in the top tier of Italian football, with their current manager Francesco Calzona securing victory in merely three out of 16 matches.
Calzona, who had no prior experience managing a Serie A side before joining Napoli and also serves as the head coach of Slovakia, succeeded former Watford boss Walter Mazzarri.
Their previous coach, Rudi Garcia, was dismissed in November after a brief tenure of just three months into the season.
