Manchester United’s injury crisis is showing no sign of abating as they head to the south coast to face Bournemouth tomorrow.
The club has already announced that Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans are unavailable until May, joining Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia on the list of injured defenders.
This means that the back line should pick itself and be unchanged from the one that played against Liverpool, with Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka the full-backs and Harry Maguire and young Willy Kambwala the centre backs.
Andre Onana will be in goal.
In midfield, there are fitness doubts over Scott McTominay, who missed the Liverpool game, and possibly Sofyan Amrabat, who appeared to be absent from training in pictures released yesterday.
Mason Mount is an option, but it is likely that manager Erik ten Hag will stick with Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo.
Another injury doubt is Marcus Rashford, who had to come off against the Merseysiders. He, too, was not spotted in the training pictures so we expect him to be unavailable.
Again, Mount could be his replacement, as could the exceptionally gifted Amad Diallo. But we expect Ten Hag to turn to his favourite Antony once again to fill the gap left by the England man.
Antony would play right wing with Alejandro Garnacho switching to the left, and Bruno Fernandes in his usual number 10 role.
Rasmus Hojlund will almost certainly continue up front as Anthony Martial remains sidelined.
With seemingly nothing left to play for in the league and some very tired looking players, it would be nice to see Ten Hag freshen things up ahead of next Sunday’s crucial FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City. Vital players such as Dalot, Mainoo, Garnacho and Hojlund could be put in cotton wool.
They could be replaced by, for example, Harry Amass, Christian Eriksen, Mount and Amad or Omari Forson, which would in turn be a fantastic opportunity for those players to gain either experience or match fitness (or both).
However, we do not think it’s in Ten Hag’s make-up to do that, so this is our predicted XI to face the Cherries in tomorrow’s 5.30pm kick-off:
