The League Bloggers Awards ceremony, set to take place in Lagos at 7 p.m. today, July 19, will showcase some of the finest talents in Nigerian football.

Among the notable contenders for the League Bloggers Awards Player of the Season is Chijioke Mbaoma, the prolific Enyimba striker who clinched the top scorer title in the 2023-2024 NPFL season with an exceptional 17 goals.

Additionally, Remo Stars and Super Eagles defender Sodiq Ismail, who not only secured a spot in the national team but also contributed 13 assists and netted one goal for his club during last season, is also in the running for NPFL Player Of the Season.

Akwa United’s Sani Suleiman, who impressed with 11 goals and 2 assists in 19 appearances, earned himself a nomination for the prestigious Rookie of The Season award. Suleiman is also contending for the prize along with Enyimba midfielder Daniel Daga and Remo Stars defender Ahmed Akinyele.

In the goalkeepers’ category of the League Bloggers Awards, the competition is fierce, with Amas Obasogie of Bendel Insurance boasting the record for the highest number of clean sheets in a single season, going head to head with Rangers’ Japhet Opubo and 3SC’s Okemutie Odah.

In the women’s league, the race for the best player award features Edo Queens’ Suliat Abideen and Emem Essien, as well as Robo Queens’ Folashade Ijamilusi.

Bankole Olowookere of Naija Ratels, and Whyte Ogbonda, who steered Rivers Angels to clinch the President Federation Cup title, are competing for the title of the best NWFL coach at the 2024 League Bloggers Awards.
