The First Lady, Mrs. Remi Tinubu, visited the Saraki family in Lagos to offer her condolences before the funeral of their mother, Mrs. Florence Morenike Saraki.
During her visit on Tuesday, Mrs. Tinubu expressed her condolences to the children of the late Mrs. Saraki. She mentioned that her visit, sanctioned by President Bola Tinubu, was a gesture of love and support for the family.
“We are one family. Regardless of politics, Mr. President will always look out for you.
“Mama lived a good life. I know it hurts, but we thank God for the life she lived,” Mrs. Tinubu said.
During the visit, a video which surfaced online showed the moment Bukola Saraki asked Remi Tinubu if she wanted to shake hands and replying, Remi Tinubu said in Yoruba “E GBA OWO”, meaning let’s shake hands in a respective way.
Amid that, an aide to Governor Adeleke, Banks Omishore, while reacting to that particular scene, recalled in 2015 when Bukola Saraki became Senate President, Sen. Remi Tinubu refused to shake his hands during presentations of the certificate of office, which was why Saraki made that joke if Remi Tinubu wanted to shake hands.
Banks Omishore went on to say that in politics, there are no permanent enemies, as even interest is not permanent. It changes, but the interest of the people be the guide always.
Making findings on what Banks Omishore said, it turned out to be true as it was reported by then by Daily Post then.
