The Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has announced plans to build the first government-owned pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Northern Nigeria, with significant investment to improve healthcare in the state.

The governor also said that over N5 billion has been allocated for healthcare projects, including the construction of new buildings, medical training scholarships.

Governor Dikko Radda made this known while speaking at the inauguration of a new modern drug warehouse and the distribution of free motorcycles to health workers at the Katsina State Pharmaceutical Distribution Agency.

Governor Radda said this is part of the measures the government is taking to boost local drug production and reduce dependence on foreign imports.

Speaking, the Chairperson of the Katsina State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supplies Commission, Pharm. Fatima Shuaibu, said that all necessary arrangements have been made to provide quality medicines to the public.

The Chairperson then expressed gratitude to the Governor for his support to the agency.
