Paulo Fonseca has been sacked by Serie A giants, AC Milan following a 1-1 draw at home to Roma on Sunday, December 29, 2024.

The Serie A club confirmed the termination of PauloFonseca’s contract on its official website on Monday, December 30, 2024, after just six months in charge, having replaced Stefano Pioli in June 2024. AC Milan have been playing second fiddle to some of the top teams in the league this season which has reduced their chances of winning the title or qualifying for European spots.

The statement read thus,

“AC Milan announces that Paulo Fonseca has been relieved from his duties as head coach of the men’s first team. The club extends its gratitude to Paulo for his great professionalism and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours.”

Rossoneri won just seven of their 17 league matches under Fonseca and are in eighth place, just eight points away from fourth-placed Lazio and UEFA Champions League qualification.
