Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Kyle Walker has requested to leave the club during the January transfer window to pursue opportunities abroad and conclude his career.
Walker, absent from City’s recent 8-0 FA Cup victory over Salford City, has been a pivotal figure since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017. During his tenure, he has contributed to six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and a Champions League triumph in 2023.
Guardiola emphasized Walker’s significance to the team’s success and supported his exploration of new opportunities. Reports suggest that clubs from the Saudi Pro League are interested in acquiring Walker, with potential earnings of up to £400,000 per week.
This development comes after Walker signed a two-year contract extension with Manchester City in September 2023, expressing his desire to remain at the club.
