Sheriff Olaitan Salaudeen, popularly known as Olaitan, has built a remarkable career as one of Nigeria’s most influential music pluggers. His journey into the world of music promotion stems from a deep passion for entertainment, years of dedication, and an in depth understanding of the Nigerian music industry.

Born on April 6, 1981, in Agege, Lagos, Olaitan was drawn to music from an early age. His exposure to Arabic lessons (Ile-kewu) as a teenager broadened his perspective on culture and communication, but his formal entry into the music industry took shape much later.

He attended St. Joseph Secondary School, Idi-Mangoro, Agege, before earning a degree in Mass Communication from Lagos State Polytechnic in 2008. During his time in school, he developed a stronger connection to the media industry, which would later define his career path.

Career Growth and Influence in the Music Industry

After completing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at NTA Minna, Niger State, Olaitan Salaudeen gained valuable experience in broadcasting and media relations. He then worked at Television Continental (TVC) for two years, where he refined his skills in media promotions and began to understand the intricacies of the Nigerian music business.

His experience at TVC exposed him to the growing demand for structured music promotion. Recognizing the gap in the industry, Olaitan shifted his focus toward music plugging, helping artists navigate the media landscape and gain visibility.

In 2010, he fully embraced music promotion, working with artists to secure media placements, radio airplay, and industry networking opportunities. His expertise and strategic approach quickly earned him recognition as a key player in the Nigerian music scene.

His career reached new heights when he became the official music plugger for YBNL Nation, the record label founded by Olamide. Through this role, he played a crucial part in promoting artists such as Olamide, Adekunle Gold, Lil Kesh, Viktoh, Temmie Ovwasa (YBNL Princess), Fireboy DML, and Asake. His influence contributed significantly to their mainstream success, extensive radio play, and international reach.

Beyond his work with YBNL, Olaitan has collaborated with numerous artists and industry stakeholders, helping them expand their audience through radio, DJs, and digital platforms. His efforts have helped bridge the gap between artists and listeners, shaping the role of music pluggers in Nigeria.

Faith, Family, and Legacy

Despite his busy career, Olaitan Salaudeen remains deeply committed to his faith and family. A practicing Muslim and an Alhaji, he prioritizes his religious obligations, performing Hajj and Umrah regularly. He is also a devoted husband and father, blessed with three children, Iremide Mumin Salaudeen, Ireayo Mueen Salaudeen, and Ireanu Muizah Salaudeen.

Through his dedication to music, faith, and family, Olaitan has built a legacy that extends beyond the entertainment industry. His journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, strategic thinking, and the ability to balance professional success with personal values.
