Mudashiru Obasa has been reinstated as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly after Mojisola Meranda resigned from the position.

He was sworn in on Monday in a closed-door meeting that included lawmakers and party leaders.

Meranda had stepped down as Speaker after only 49 days in office.

This came after Obasa was impeached in January over allegations of financial misconduct, leading to Meranda taking over. However, Obasa later returned to the Assembly and declared himself the rightful Speaker.

The decision to reinstate him was reached after a series of meetings with stakeholders and party leaders, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
