Official: United announce the departure or potential departure of twelve players

Manchester United have announced their official retained list for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

Clubs submit an annual list to the Premier League to notify the organisation of players they have released or may be releasing.

The Red Devils have confirmed seven departures, Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial, Brandon Williams, Tom Huddlestone, Charlie McNeill, Marcus Lawrence and Kie Plumley.

On their official website, United also stated that talks are ongoing with four other stars as their contracts run down in the coming days.

“Discussions remain open with Shola Shoretire over a potential new contract,” the club announced.

“Discussions remain open with Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton over potential new contracts while Omari Forson has formally been offered a new deal.”

It is also noted that Alvaro Fernandez Carreras is set to leave as “Benfica have exercised the option to purchase the player on a permanent basis after a loan deal.”

It would seem that Shoretire, Evans and Heaton are all likely to depart, although the club suggests there could be last minute reprieves.

Forson is likely to join them unless there is a last-minute change of heart from either club or player.

United’s contract offer has been on the table for some time.

This makes twelve likely departures from the first team or its peripheries, with more expected to follow.

Casemiro, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo are among those all linked with transfers by the media.

Manager Erik ten Hag could also be heading for the exit door after Ineos complete their end-of-season review, making this summer almost unprecedented in terms of the number of exits from the club.
