Jamal Musiala scored his second goal of the Euro 2024 tournament against Hungary, while Ilkay Gündogan’s goal and assist ensured Germany’s progression to the knockout stage. The German team knew that a win against Hungary would secure their spot in the next round, and they achieved this despite Hungary’s bold and challenging play.

The match was very exciting, with Germany scoring first in the 22nd minute. Jamal Musiala scored after receiving a pass from German captain Ilkay Gündogan, taking advantage of a defensive mistake by Hungary.

The experience of the legendary Manuel Neuer came into play after the Bayern Munich first-choice goalie made an impressive save, denying Dominik Szoboszlai from a free-kick. Hungary thought they had scored a goal to equalize just before half-time, but Roland Sallai’s goal was disallowed after a VAR review.

In the 67th minute, Barcelona star Ilkay Gündogan sealed the game by scoring Germany’s second goal from a brilliant pass, confirming their place in the round of 16 and making them the first team to qualify for the next stage of the competition. Gündogan’s outstanding performance, which included both a goal and an assist, earned him the man of the match award.
