Raphael Varane, a former Manchester United player, is allegedly in Italy to discuss a prospective move to Cesc Fabregas’s Como.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Varane is presently in Italy to explore a prospective agreement that will see him attract interest from several clubs, including several from the Saudi Pro League.
Varane’s departure from United was revealed last month, three years after he joined Real Madrid for €40 million.
Varane made 32 appearances at Old Trafford last season, keeping 12 clean sheets and scoring once against Wolverhampton.
His final appearance for the club was in the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.
Varane’s exit is part of a broader strategy by United’s new ownership, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, to reduce the wage bill and revamp Erik ten Hag’s squad.
Despite being 31, Varane remains a sought-after player, attracting interest from Saudi Pro League clubs, MLS’s Inter Miami, and his boyhood club RC Lens.
