Organizers announce date for resumption of hunger protests

The nationwide hunger protests, led by organizers, will be resuming on October 1 following a series of demonstrations from August 1st to 10th against the rising cost of living.

Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the Action Alliance Congress (AAC) and a key figure in the protests, announced the decision in an interview on News Central TV.

He mentioned that ongoing discussions among organizers are focused on planning the next phase of the protests.

“This protest will resume at the beginning of October and might even start earlier depending on situational variables.”

The demands of the organizers include a reversal of fuel subsidies, an increase in the minimum wage to N250,000, the release of Nnamdi Kanu, and the adoption of a new constitution.

Despite President Bola Tinubu’s plea to halt the protests, the organizers have expressed their determination to continue, stating that his speech did not persuade them.
