ForexLive Asia-Pacific FX news wrap: Major FX trades mainly sideways

It
was a day of subdued trading for major FX following the swings during
the CPI/Bostic impacted US Thursday.

News
and data flow was very light.

There
was some thought we might have heard more on how the US and Israel
are negotiating on a response to Iran but there hasn’t been much
new on this.

As
I update mainland Chinese equities are heavier in morning trade. Hong
Kong markets were closed for a holiday. On Saturday China’s Finance
Ministry will hold a press briefing on fiscal policy and economic
development at 10 am Beijing time (0200 GMT, 2200 US Eastern time).
This will be followed on Monday by another press briefing, this time
from China’s Infrastructure Ministry, Ministry of Industry and
Information Technology, and State Administration for Market
Regulation. This will be at 10 am Beijing time too. The yuan traded a little firmer.

In
equity market news, Musk unveiled the Tesla Robotaxi / Cybercab at
his event Thursday evening.
