Bitfinex Launches Tether (USDt) Deposits and Withdrawals on Aptos

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, British Virgin Islands28, October 2024 – Bitfinex (https://www.bitfinex.com/), a premier digital asset trading platform, announced today that customers can now deposit and withdraw Tether tokens (USDt) on Aptos on Bitfinex. Customers will no longer have to rely on external, third-party wallets to use USDt on Aptos and can simply use their Bitfinex accounts.

The Aptos blockchain, designed for speed, scalability, and low fees, recently experienced substantial growth in network activity. Average daily active users on Aptos nearly doubled this year, rising from 96,000 in January to 170,000 in July. This May, Aptos became the first blockchain to achieve sub-second end-to-end latency across all transaction types consistently, setting the standard for the fastest transaction speeds in Web3. In August 2024, Aptos set a transaction volume record by processing over 326 million transactions in a single day.

Tether’s USDt is the first and most widely used stablecoin on the market, reporting a market capitalisation of over $120 billion.

“Integrating Tether’s USDt with Aptos allows Bitfinex users to experience both the low fees and high-speed transactions that Aptos offers,” said Henry Child, Head of Tokens at Bitfinex. “This step supports smoother, more cost-effective transactions for our customers, and highlights our commitment to expanding stablecoin access on innovative networks like Aptos.”

Following this latest integration, Bitfinex customers are now able to deposit USDt across 19 blockchains and withdraw USDt across 16 blockchains.* This includes Algorand, Avalanche, Bitcoin Cash’s Simple Ledger Protocol (SLP), Ethereum, EOS, Liquid Network, Omni, Polygon, Polygon zkEVM, Tezos, The Open Network (TON), Tron, Solana, Polkadot, Kusama, the Near Network, Kava, Celo, and now Aptos.

*Withdrawals of USDt on Kusama, Bitcoin Cash SLP, and Omni Layer blockchains are no longer being supported as of 01/09/2023. See the full announcement here.
