S&P global: Trump unlikely to impose 10% blanket tariff and 60% tariff on Chinese goods

Is”the bark is worse than the bite” on tariffs?

  • Tariffs could increase US inflation and be a drag on US growth.
  • Unlikely that Pres. Trump imposes a 10% blanket tariff and 60% tariff on Chinese goods
  • Policy impacting deficits and that could affect US sovereign credit rating.
  • Projections assume deficit will remain around current levels
