Fed’s Goolsbee says personally comfortable not ‘charging’ towards neutral

  • Everything is always on the policy table
  • Asked about a Dec cut, said he doesn’t like to tie his hands before data
  • We are going to be looking at rate cuts along the lines of the Sept Fed projections
  • Recent inflation has been higher than target, if that’s extended then it’s too high
  • Not a lot has changed in the past couple weeks

Here are the Sept projections. The market is pricing in 3.80% for next December.
