The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) formally recognized Sunday Ude-Okoye as the National Secretary of the party on Wednesday.

This resolution was disclosed to the public by the Chairman of the BoT, Adolphus Wabara, during the current 80th session taking place in Abuja.

Wabara articulated that the Board of Trustees confirmed Ude-Okoye’s position subsequent to a meticulous examination of the documentation submitted by both disputing factions.

Prior to this appointment, Ude-Okoye served as the National Youth Leader of the PDP, and he was nominated by the party’s South-East Caucus to succeed Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary.

It is pertinent to recall that on January 31, the governors of the PDP, spearheaded by Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, endorsed the ruling of the Court of Appeal which validated Ude-Okoye’s position as National Secretary, and they urged the National Working Committee (NWC) to act upon this ruling.

Furthermore, the PDP Governors Forum distanced its members from Anyanwu and affirmed Ude-Okoye’s position as the National Secretary of the party during a convening in Asaba, Delta State.

Notwithstanding the party’s official position, Anyanwu continued to assert his claim to the role, resulting in a confrontation that transpired during a meeting at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja the previous week.
