Trump writes that if companies move to the US, there are no tariffs

I think US companies are in a tough spot. You can’t just pick up a factory and move it across the border.

Say you’re Ford and decide to move production to the US. The reason the factories are where they are is cost, nothing else. It would take a number of years to move production but what happens in the 2028 election? There is a fair chance that any tariffs are removed and now you have just undercut your competitive position.

In the meantime, a ‘sell everything’ mood has continued to grip markets. With the S&P 500 down 1.9% now.

Notably, Trump also wrote about Mexican cartels and a crackdown that’s hitting them. Perhaps that hints at some progress on that front
