Trump backs down on ending daylight saving

If you are not in the US but trade US markets take note that times zones change in the US this coming weekend. Check in your local times how to make the adjustment.

Most of the US switches to Daylight Saving on March 9, including those areas where major exchanges are located, such as New York and Chicago.

Clocks will be wound forward by one hour at 2 am US Eastern time on Sunday, to 3 am.

During his campaign Trump signalled he’d be banning Daylight Saving:

  • “The Republican Party will use its best efforts to eliminate Daylight Saving Time, which has a small but strong constituency, but shouldn’t!”

He’s appeared to having stepped back from this. Axios carries his latest remarks:

  • “It’s very much a fifty-fifty issue and it’s something I can do, but a lot of people like it one way, a lot of people like it the other way.”
