Barcelona Crush Sevilla 5-1 to Stay Top of La Liga 🎯

Barcelona’s stellar start to the La Liga season just keeps getting better. On Sunday, they absolutely tore apart Sevilla with a 5-1 win at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, moving three points clear at the top of the table.

Robert Lewandowski, as expected, was on fire. He netted twice, and substitute Pablo Torre matched him with two of his own, ensuring Barcelona’s dominance throughout the game.

First-Half Blitz

Barça didn’t waste time asserting their authority. The first half was all about them, scoring three goals in just 15 minutes. Lewandowski started the party with a penalty in the 24th minute after Raphinha got taken down from behind. Four minutes later, Pedri made it 2-0 with a rocket into the top corner.

Then, Lewandowski bagged his second of the night, getting a toe on Raphinha’s low drive to sneak it past Sevilla’s keeper, Orjan Nyland.

Goals Keep Flowing

Raphinha thought he’d added another just after the break, but the offside flag ruined that celebration. Sevilla had a similar fate when Dodi Lukebakio’s strike was ruled out in the 72nd minute.

Pablo Torre entered the game and quickly got on the scoresheet with a tidy finish inside the box, making it 4-0. Sevilla managed to grab a consolation goal through Stanis Idumbo in the 87th minute, but Torre wasn’t done. He rounded off the scoring with a stunning free-kick moments later.

Lewandowski and Torre Shine

Barcelona now sit comfortably at the top of the standings with 27 points, three ahead of Real Madrid, and seven clear of Atletico Madrid. Meanwhile, Sevilla sit 13th with 12 points.

Barcelona’s attack has been unstoppable lately, racking up 13 goals in their last three games. This is their best scoring start in La Liga after the first 10 games since 2012-13, having found the back of the net 31 times already this season.

Lewandowski, with 12 goals in 10 games, is in Messi territory. He’s the first player to reach this milestone since Messi did it in 2019-20.

And let’s not forget about Lamine Yamal. Despite an injury scare, he delivered his sixth assist of the season, becoming the first Barça player to do so since Messi in 2014-15.
