“Decision will be…”: Fabrizio Romano reveals big update on Jadon Sancho’s “open future” at United

"Decision will be...": Fabrizio Romano reveals big update on Jadon Sancho's "open future" at United

Manchester United have not received an official bid from Paris Saint-Germain for Jadon Sancho but the 24-year-old winger “could still leave” Old Trafford the final weeks of the transfer window if an “important proposal” arrives, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian transfer guru reveals there is “interest” in Sancho from the Ligue 1 champions but they have yet to act upon this with an actual bid.

Earlier in the summer, a report relayed by The Peoples Person revealed the English winger had reached an “agreement in principle” with PSG, indicating Sancho had agreed personal terms and was open to the move.

The 24-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund following a public dispute with Erik ten Hag in September. He produced a number of impressive performances in the Champions League as he helped Dortmund reach the final of the competition.

Die Schwarzgelben were open to Sancho remaining at the Signual Iduna Park beyond his loan but were unable to meet the financial demands of United to make the move permanent.

The winger then returned to Old Trafford and, following reconciliatory talks with Ten Hag and United’s executives at the club’s training ground, was reinstated into the first-team. He was an active participant on the club’s pre-season tour, playing on the left-wing or as a false-nine, following Rasmus Hojlund’s hamstring injury.

United, and Ten Hag, are believed to be content for Sancho to remain in Manchester this season, with the winger’s positional versatility likely to be a bonus for the Dutch manager given the paucity of options in his forward line.

However, the club would consider a sale if a suitable offer arrived for Sancho, with Romano revealing his “future remains open”. The 24-year-old could “still leave United in the final weeks in case of important proposal,” Romano writes on X.

Tweet: “Manchester United have still not received any bid from PSG for Jadon Sancho, despite interest. Understand Sancho’s future remains open, he could still leave United in the final weeks in case of important proposal. Decision will be up to the club and the manager Erik ten Hag.”

Romano states Sancho’s future will be decided by the “club and the manager Erik ten Hag” indicating the winger will only leave on United’s terms, not his.

The transfer budget at Old Trafford is a delicate one, however, with United reliant upon sales to fund any further signings. The club are actively looking at deals to sell Scott McTominay, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof to bring in upgrades in their respective positions.

Old Trafford officials would likely want do something similar with Sancho but it will require a sizeable offer from PSG for them to sanction the winger’s departure. Whether the French club are prepared to act on their “interest” remains to be seen.
