Real Madrid began their Champions League title defence with a 3-1 victory over Stuttgart at the Santiago Bernabeu.
While it wasn’t the most polished performance, Carlo Ancelotti’s team did enough to earn three points.
The first half was open, with both teams creating opportunities but failing to score.
However, fewer than 30 seconds into the second half, Kylian Mbappe scored in his Champions League debut for Real Madrid, thanks to a beautiful assist from Rodrygo Goes.
Stuttgart fought back and equalized in the 65th minute when Deniz Undav headed in a powerful cross, leaving Thibaut Courtois stranded.
The setback was brief as Madrid regained control, and Antonio Rudiger put them ahead in the 83rd minute with a header from Luka Modric’s corner.
In the final minutes, 18-year-old Endrick Felipe sealed the win, becoming Real Madrid’s youngest player to score in the Champions League.
