Ex-Roma man Kevin Strootman retires from football

Former Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has announced his decision to retire.

“Career is over. Thank you football!”, wrote Strootman on Instagram, putting an end to his life as a footballer after playing for years in Holland, in Serie A and in Ligue 1 with the Marseille jersey.

The reaction from his former teammates was immediate, like Florenzi who thanked him with a “red heart” in the comments under his post on his Instagram profile, and Edin Dzeko who wrote, “Thank you for everything, brother.”

The Dutchman played for the Giallorossi from 2013 to 2018, collecting 131 appearances, 13 goals and 19 assists.

In his later years Strootman played for Cagliari and Genoa, eventually becoming a free agent and deciding to quit the sport.
