Ex-Roma midfielder Nemanja Matic linked with Serie A return

Former Roma midfielder Nemanja Matic is reportedly on the radar of Napoli and Fiorentina as they look to strengthen their midfield during the winter transfer window.

Currently playing in France for Lyon, the veteran could return to Italy next month following his abrupt departure from the Giallorossi in August 2023 after just one season—joining Rennes on a two-year deal for €3 million.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Matic is open to the idea of coming back to Serie A, where he thrived during his brief spell in the Italian capital.

Both the Partenopei and Viola have expressed interest in his services, but the conditions for a potential transfer would still need to be negotiated.
