Manchester United fans will travel down to Wembley tomorrow hoping to see their side win the FA Cup for a 13th time.
The supporters have had to be at their patient and most loyal best this season.
A worst ever Premier League finish of eighth and ending up the season with a goal difference of minus one is not what someone expects from a club with the reputation that United have.
However, the showpiece event provides the Red Devils with an opportunity to put a little bit of gloss on an otherwise rather dull campaign.
One player who could have a very important role tomorrow afternoon is United’s young striker, Rasmus Hojlund.
The Denmark international has enjoyed a meteoric rise in world football, playing for Sturm Graz two years ago, he is now leading the line and the top scorer for Manchester United.
His season has been a contrasting one, experiencing the joy of scoring for his boyhood team to going long periods without goals or even touches of the ball.
However, the striker actually finished the season with a better goal conversion rate than Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, so he is clearly doing something right.
The 21 year old will be dreaming of scoring the winning goal at the famous national stadium for his boyhood side but standing in his way is the formidable Ruben Dias.
The Portuguese defender has been a critical part of Pep Guardiola’s defence since signing for the club four years ago. He is an aggressive player who will step out and confidently mop up danger before it has even manifested itself into a chance.
The 27 year old is also very good on the ball, as one would expect from a City player, and can launch attacks with ease. However, he does have one major weakness and interestingly, one Hojlund can exploit.
Dias is susceptible to fast players and defending in open spaces. The problem is City have so much control over games, it is hard to get the chance to exploit this.
What is for sure is, City will play a high line and on Wembley’s invitingly big pitch, United must be switched on to take advantage of this major opportunity.
If Hojlund plays with his back to goal, where he has often struggled this season, Dias will be far too powerful and experienced to be troubled by him. However, if he can use his electrifying pace in open spaces to run at Dias, the Portuguese will not be able to cope.
He clocked a top speed of 35.45 Km/h earlier in the season, and if he is able to run into space at this type of velocity, he can certainly have joy against the Cityzens’ backline.
His last two goals of the season against Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion have come when he has run at backtracking defenders and shifted onto his weaker right foot to fire into the net.
With Lisandro Martinez and Bruno Fernandes in the team, he should have two reliable sources of probing, dangerous long balls that should allow him to run at the City defence all afternoon long.
With the right delivery, there is every chance that the United man could prove to be the match winner and crown his first season at United in glory.
