Messi vs. Mbappé: The Battle of Opinions on Tournaments ⚽
Lionel Messi is gearing up for another Copa América with Argentina. Their main goal? Defend their title and show dominance by lifting the trophy again. To do this, they’ll have to beat tough rivals like Brazil and Uruguay. The tournament kicks off on June 20 in the United States.
La Albiceleste will have a warm-up match against Guatemala on Friday, June 14, at The Commanders Field. This match is crucial for Coach Scaloni to assess his squad and pick the best starting eleven for the Copa América 2024. Their first match in the tournament will be against Canada at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Messi Responds to Mbappé’s Claim
Recently, Kylian Mbappé, now with Real Madrid, shared his thoughts on Euro 2024. He believes it’s tougher than the World Cup.
“In my opinion, it’s a more difficult tournament than the World Cup. It becomes very, very challenging right from the group stage. We haven’t won it for 24 years, which is significant, but we’re not putting any extra pressure on ourselves. We’re focusing on preparing well for the group stage to perform strongly,” he said.
Messi’s Take
In an exclusive interview with ESPN, Messi shared his views. He also confirmed that Inter Miami will be his final club.
“Everyone values the competition they play in. Obviously, the Euros are very important with top teams, but it excludes Argentina, a three-time World Cup champion, Brazil, a five-time World Cup champion, and Uruguay, a two-time World Cup champion. There are many world champions left out, making it hard to claim it’s the toughest.
“The World Cup features the best teams, including all the world champions generally, and that’s why everyone wants to become World Champion,” he concluded.
