Manchester City demolished Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on this day in 2014, with five different players scoring for them.

Manuel Pelligrini’s had beaten Tottenham 6-0 earlier on in the season and it took just a quarter of an hour for them to break the deadlock.
Sergio Aguero opened the scoring after chasing a poked through-ball from David Silva and the scoreline stayed at 1-0 until the break.

Shortly after the break, City won a penalty after Danny Rose brought down Edin Dzeko, getting a red card for the foul. Yaya Toure sent Hugo Lloris the wrong way with the resulting kick.
Dzeko scored himself two minutes later after the ball pinged around in the goalmouth.

Etienne Capue gave the home side a glimmer of hope just before the hour mark with a goal from a Christian Eriksen corner, but Stevan Jovetic added City’s fourth in the 78th minute.
The striker received the ball wide on the left after the visitors went on a counter-attack, cut inside and hit the ball low into the far corner of the net.

Vincent Kompany completed a miserable evening for Tottenham with a tap-in after a shot from Edin Dzeko was blocked by a defender and Hugo Lloris had already dived to block Dzeko’s shot.

Tottenham fans may probably have taken one small crumb of comfort from the defeat in that City knocked Arsenal off the top of the table with the victory. Spurs remained in fifth position. At the end of the season, City won the league and scored an incredible 102 goals over the campaign.
