Former Roma defender Philippe Mexes discussed the importance of the Derby della Capitale with Lazio and commented on Daniele De Rossi’s progress as the team’s coach.
“15 years ago derbies were much tougher,” Mexes told Centro Suono Sport. “Roma fans especially felt it and it affected the entire season.”
“If we brought home a negative result, we would be immediately required to come up with a positive one in return, otherwise it would have been difficult for us too. It’s a major challenge to play the derby in this city.”
“De Rossi? Daniele and is doing very well, and so are the players. Whoever plays tomorrow will have to give their all. Huijsen is good, playing these matches gives you experience so I could see him getting a surprise start.”
“He’s doing well. I visited Trigoria with Mourinho in November, but the atmosphere was already heavy back then. With De Rossi it’s different, everything is more relaxed. Daniele brought serenity to the team.”
