Plans for the US to impose fees on vessels built or flagged in China are firming up

I posted earlier this week that Trump is preparing an order to punish China by charging fees on Chinese-built ships and cranes entering the U.S.

The scuttlebutt is that this is taking shape, with Trump to sign an Executive Order:

  • US to impose fees on any vessel entering US ports that are part of a fleet which includes vessels built or flagged in China
  • Trump will also demand that allies impose similar measures or risk US retaliation
