Roma nearing total agreement with Girona for Artem Dovbyk

Roma are entering the final phase of negotiations with Girona for Artem Dovbyk.

On Tuesday, Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi flew to Girona with the aim of closing the deal.

The intention is to return with the definitive agreement and, possibly, with the player himself on board the private DB Aviation flight, which took off around lunchtime from Ciampino airport.

To facilitate the negotiation, Roma has revised its offer. While keeping the fixed fee of 32 million euros unchanged, the Giallorossi decided to increase the bonuses up to 6 million, although not all of them are easily achievable.

Furthermore, the Giallorossi have agreed to grant 15% on future resale, compared to the 10% initially proposed. Alternatively, if the bonuses are not collected, the Roman club will undertake to pay Girona 40 million euros, equivalent to the release clause, but with installments over several years. In this case, 15% on resale would be withdrawn.

This offer seems to be in line with the expectations of the Spanish club, which had set a high price for the player.

Faced with this proposal, Pere Guardiola, president of Girona and brother of the well-known coach Pep Guardiola, seems ready to sign the agreement.

Dovbyk, who has already reached an agreement with Roma for a five-year contract worth 3.5 million euros net per season plus bonuses, could join the team in time for the training camp in England.

In fact, Roma plans two weeks of training to prepare for their championship debut, set for Sunday 18 August against Cagliari.

Dovbyk actively contributed to the success of the operation, letting Girona know that he would not accept any destination other than Rome.

The footballer has already said goodbye to his teammates in Girona, with whom he experienced a memorable season, culminating in third place in La Liga and the historic qualification for the Champions League.

Dovbyk is even willing to give up some bonuses to facilitate the agreement, writes Corriere dello Sport.
