Roma publish official statement debunking La Repubblica article

Roma have responded to the allegations made by today’s edition of La Repubblica about a potential tax penalty of 34 million euros.

The article had suggested that Roma were found guilty of irregular financial statements for the period 2016-2021, in the form of an “irregular declaration” by the club.

“With reference to inaccurate news published in relation to the tax audit of the Italian tax police,” reads the official statement published on Roma’s website.

“The Company considers the related allegations not grounded and intends to prove the lawfulness and fairness of its conduct with the competent bodies, it being anyhow understood that, even if such allegations were to be ascertained, the maximum tax burden would still not exceed approx. EUR 2 million.”
