Russia’s Putin on US/Ukraine rare earth metals: It’s none of our business

Russia’s Putin is on the wires saying that the US-Ukraine rare earth metals negotiations are none of our business.

Huh?

He adds:

  • On rare earth metals cooperation with US, Russia would be ready to offer joint work to US public and private entities.

Huh?

  • Trump want to improve political situation in Ukraine, to create conditions for survival of Ukraine
  • Trumps position is not in Russia’s interests, it is in Ukraine’s interest
  • Trump is not acting on emotion, but on rational approach to current situation (what has been rational about Putins invasion over the last 3 years).
  • Sees nothing wrong with European participation in the negotiations on Ukraine.
  • Europe itself has refused contact with Russia… (If only Europe asked nicely….what could have happened).
  • Putin on talks with US: Next contacts between and with US will focus primarily on bilateral relations.
  • We could agree with the US to cut defence budgets, that’s a good idea.

Why do I not trust these comments OR wonder what secret deals are being made?

Trump meanwhile is saying:

  • Have had great conversations, including with Russia, on easing Ukraine war.
  • Our focus is achieving on a cease-fire as soon as possible and ultimately permanent peace .
  • Your mistake central in assuming long-term security in Ukraine
  • Meeting with France’s Macron was another step forward toward ending the war
  • Agrees that this is the right time, and may be the only time to and poor in Ukraine
  • Agrees that cost and burden of Ukraine war must be borne by Europe
  • Made a great deal of progress towards making Ukraine minerals deal

I am kinda stunned by the comments from Putin. I thought Putin’s invasion had to do with a land grab including the resources from the country. Did he have a come to Jesus moment? Maybe I am reading it wrong, but the stocks are not jumping on the peace talks…
