Shomurodov to return to Roma’s line-up vs Parma

Today’s match against Parma seems almost like one too many obstacles in Roma’s path, with their minds inevitably already turned to the return leg of the Europa League playoffs against Porto.

The trip to Emilia hides pitfalls, as demonstrated by the match in Venice. Ranieri knows that it could be a physical match, to be won with cynicism and defensive attention.

The lineup choices reflect this strategy. With Cristante suspended and Dybala rested, Paredes will be the linchpin of the midfield, while there will be a mini-revolution up front.

It is likely that Dovbyk and Pellegrini will be rested, still tired after the match in Portugal. In their place, Ranieri will focus on Shomurodov, with Baldanzi and El Shaarawy in support.

Another doubt concerns the management of Koné and Angelino. The coach could decide to save them in view of Porto, relaunching Gourna-Douath and giving a chance from the first minute to Salah-Eddine.

Roma, writes Il Messaggero, with Ranieri at the helm, has shown that it can adapt its game to the needs of the moment. Today at the Tardini, tactical intelligence and concentration will be needed to bring home three fundamental points.
