This announcement on Canada-USA tariffs is taking way too long

In February when the first round of tariffs were called if, there were calls between Trump and Sheinbaum and then Trump and Trudeau in very short order.

The longer this takes, the more I worry that something has gone wrong.

For Trudeau’s Liberals — he’s being replaced on Sunday — this tariff war is playing very well in the polls. I wonder if they’re engaging in some kind of poison pill or overplaying their hand.

Alternatively, they could be trying to squeeze the US for longer-term certainty around the trading relationship.
