Trump / Musk DOGE seeking to access US IRS personal taxpayer data

The Trump / Musk DOGE is reported to be seeking access to the US Internal Revenue Service data on personal taxpayer data.

The report comes via the Washington Post (gated):

  • Trump / Musk’s U.S. DOGE Service is seeking access to a heavily-guarded Internal Revenue Service system that includes detailed financial information about every taxpayer, business and nonprofit in the country, according to two people familiar with the activities, sparking alarm within the tax agency.
  • Under pressure from the White House, the IRS is considering a memorandum of understanding that would give DOGE officials broad access to tax-agency systems, property and datasets.

I wonder what the hackers at DOGE could do with this information?
