UCL: The schedule is too demanding – Ancelotti fumes over new format

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his dissatisfaction with the new Champions League format as his team prepares to defend their title this week.

Ancelotti highlighted the increase in the number of matches, noting that his team will have to play two more games.

Real Madrid will kick off their Champions League campaign against VfB Stuttgart Real at Madrid home on Tuesday.

UEFA has recently implemented changes to the Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League for this season.

Teams in these competitions will now play eight matches in the group stage, a change that Ancelotti believes is too demanding.

“We’ve been looking for what we can do, but it’s not in our hands. The schedule is too demanding,” he said (via Managing Madrid).

“A new competition is coming and we don’t know how it will turn out. It may or may not be more entertaining. But what is certain is that we have two more matches.”
