UK January CBI retailing reported sales -24 vs -15 prior

UK retailers reported a sharp drop in sales volumes to start the year as the glum mood continues since last year. The expected sales for next month also fell from -11 to -26, highlighting that retailers do not expect their fortunes to improve in February. CBI notes that:

“Retailers cited weak demand and downbeat sentiment as continuing strains on business conditions.”
