US Q1 unit labor costs +4.7% vs +3.3% expected

  • Prior was +0.4% (revised to 0.0%
  • Productivity +0.3% vs +0.8% expected
  • Prior productivity +3.2% (revised to +3.5%)

The higher unit labor costs are a tough sign for markets already worried about rising wages. The prior revisions mitigates it, but only a bit. I would warn that these numbers are difficult to measure and often revised.
